Conference Lead

Aisha is Professor of Nursing Studies at the University of Edinburgh and Co-Director of Edinburgh Global Nursing Initiative. She is also the Founder and current Co-Chair of the Scottish Alcohol Research Network (SARN). Aisha has grown a successful programme of research focusing on alcohol related harm with a specific focus on the development, implementation and evaluation of alcohol brief interventions (ABIs) across a wide range of health-related settings. She also has a strong interest in nurse political leadership both nationally and globally, leading on Research & Evidence as Programme Director for the global Nursing Now campaign in partnership with WHO and ICN. Aisha is Adjunct Professor at Johns Hopkins, Trustee on Board of Florence Nightingale Foundation and sits on Board of Harvard Global Nurse Leadership programme.

INEBRIA Co-President

Dorothy is Professor of Alcohol and Public Health Research at Teesside University where she leads a team of 30 researchers and doctoral students. She is an expert in alcohol screening and brief interventions (ASBIs) and has published extensively and carried out a number of studies in the field. Her work is primarily around young people and those in the criminal justice system. Her work always includes working with people with lived experience. She is co-president of INEBRIA.

INEBRIA Co-President

Malu is a full Professor at the Department of Psychobiology, Escola Paulista de Medicina, Universidade Federal de São Paulo where she coordinates basic research in Neuropsychopharmacology, with an emphasis on Neurobiology of Drug Abuse and clinical research on Brief Interventions and Digital Interventions. She has published extensively. She is the co-president of INEBRIA and Vice President of ISBRA (International Society of Biomedical Research on Alcoholism). She has undertaken a number of international multicentre projects of screening and brief interventions.
